Ahead of the Game helps coaches and volunteers develop the skills and knowledge they need to understand, recognise and support mental health and wellbeing in their players.
As part of the program, coaches and volunteers will attend one interactive workshop. This session will help participants recognise and understand potential mental health challenges facing young players. They’ll also learn how to start conversations about mental health. By the end of the session, coaches and volunteers will have a deeper understanding of what support channels are available to them.
Your role in player mental health
Learn some real skills, like how you can support a player who might be facing mental health challenges.
How to tell if a player might be struggling
Make sure that you have your players’ back by understanding when they might be struggling, and how you could help them out.
Having important conversations
Talking about mental health can be awkward. Learn how to start a conversation with players or parents.
